Seiko Watch Corporation is a Japanese company that specializes in the production of wristwatches, clocks, and electronic devices. The company was founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo, Japan. Originally named Seikosha, the company started out producing clocks before moving into the production of pocket watches in 1895.

SEIKO SQ

First introduced in the late 1970s and well known for their affordability and accuracy, the Seiko SQ refers to a series of quartz watches produced by the Japanese watch company Seiko. They were one of the first quartz watch lines produced by Seiko, which helped establish the brand as a leader in the quartz watch market.
 
The Seiko SQ watches came in a variety of styles and features, including analog and digital displays, chronographs, and alarms. They were also available in different colors and materials, such as stainless steel, gold plating, and leather straps.
 
While the Seiko SQ line has since been discontinued, many vintage models are still highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.

Vintage Seiko SQ quartz wristwatch reference 8223-7089 and dated from February 1980.
 
It has Japanese quartz (battery) movement caliber 8223, day/date indicator.
 
Gold cream dial with gold hour mark baton appliers, bold minute track, gold matching hands and black central second hand. The day/date is located at 3 o’clock. The dial is also signed with the Seiko name, Quartz and SQ logo.
 
Cased in a 32.7mm round case, base metal top and stainless-steel back.
 
It comes with a new-old-stock brown alligator two-piece leather strap.

This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
